Job Summary

Assemble, build and test complex custom mechanical equipment having intricate, critical tolerances and strict inspection requirements according to engineering drawings.  Assemble and test various company products.  This hands-on position plays a critical role in ensuring Power Test makes and delivers dynamometer systems that exceed customer expectations.

Responsibilities:

  • With moderate guidance, prepare work by reviewing instructions, blueprint specifications, and parts lists. Gather parts, subassemblies, tools and materials.
  • Construct, build or rebuild custom equipment by fitting and assembling components according to blueprints, manuals, engineering memos, sketches and knowledge of machine construction.
  • Use a wide variety of hand and power tools.
  • Use various measuring and precision inspection tools to verify conformance of parts to blueprints.
  • Lay out hole locations and drill and tap holes on parts for assembly.
  • Set up, fit, bolt and dowel in place large parts such as frames, brackets, etc.
  • Position parts and components such as motors, gear boxes, drive trains in and on machine frame.
  • Assist with troubleshooting and solving assembly or parts issues.
  • May perform product testing according to standard procedures and subject to final approvals.
  • Monitor assembly time to ensure completion of assigned projects within specified time frame.
  • Dissemble and inspect machine after testing to prepare for shipment to customer.
  • Operate a forklift or crane when necessary.
  • Communicate concerns to supervisor timely. Participate in solution implementation as appropriate.
  • Participate in and contribute to continuous improvement culture, including Lean initiatives.
  • Work effectively as a team member to contribute to a positive workplace.
  • Demonstrate and support company values.

Requirements:

We require a high school graduate or equivalent plus three years' experience equivalent knowledge in assembling various mechanical parts and equipment. Successful candidates have strong logic and problem-solving skills, are able to read and work from blueprints and schematics, are proficient with hand tools and precision measuring and inspection tools, be a great team player and have great attendance.
