Job Summary

Responsible for continuously generating profitable revenue and strong customer relationships.  Demonstrating strong company values and using engineering knowledge, perform all sales-cycle activities to grow the Custom Engineered Product Group. Prospect opportunities globally and sell profitable custom testing solutions to customers. Work collaboratively with other departments to ensure high customer satisfaction through timely development and delivery of high quality products. Practice excellent communication, negotiation, and time management skills.  Approximately 25% travel.



  • Deliver the company's strategic revenue, margin and profit objectives by growing Custom Engineered Products.
  • Implement comprehensive sales strategies and lead follow-up that generates awareness of our capabilities as the best solution for clients, and that positions Power Test to recognize and win business opportunities.
  • Create market awareness of our company's offerings and points-of-difference through presentations, prospecting, networking, trade shows, and trade association meetings.
  • Using a high degree of integrity, and industry and technical knowledge, manage CES sales activities to build and maintain long-term customer relationships that achieve sales goals and other corporate objectives.
  • Meet with current and potential customers to deliver professional, technical presentations, assess customer needs, recommend and plan solutions, and drive the sale to completion. Discuss, conceptualize, refine and upsell equipment and services that deliver customer solutions and profitable growth to Power Test.
  • Collaborate with the cross-functional team to define, refine and sell the proposed products.
  • Consider customer environmental requirements and regulations when conceptualizing product solutions.
  • Prepare accurate and detailed customer proposals using line item quote specifications and clearly outlined product, price, and service expectations. Obtain required internal approvals.
  • Set pricing strategy for each sale and strive to maintain maximum profit margins. Identify potential risk/rewards.
  • Meet with customers to negotiate pricing and terms and conditions of sale.
  • Schedule and lead kick-off meetings to transfer the project after the sale closes. Lead the After Action Review meeting for final disposition of open action items and lessons learned.
  • As a liaison between customer and company during the project, ensure continuous alignment with each other and with contract specifications. Manage customer expectations through the CES or DCI Project Manager.
  • Communicate with the customer before and after the installation stage to ensure final customer satisfaction. Work with the internal Project or Department Manager to implement timely corrective actions required.
  • Collaborate with sales and marketing team by providing input, competitive findings, market opportunities, and Voice of Customer responses. Adapt as needed to deliver company's overall annual sales goals.
  • Complete required reports. Regularly use CRM and other systems to collect and analyze customer data, and maintain accurate and updated information.
  • Set and achieve personal sales goals monthly, quarterly, and annually. Evaluate sales pipeline progress frequently and adjust timely as needed.  Provide input for, and monitor, budget and expenses for the position.
  • Travel approximately 25% domestically and internationally or more as business dictates.


  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering plus 3 years successful industrial sales experience for a manufacturer, or applicable combination of education and experience. Demonstrated use of a standard sales cycle process.
  • Knowledge and some experience with: Hydraulics is required; Engine and transmission testing products is ideal; Industrial machines is required, ideally capital equipment; Electro-mechanical and software systems is ideal; Reading and understanding blueprints or schematics is required. Strong math skills.
  • Demonstrated alignment with company values. Strong self-discipline and a positive, collaborative demeanor.
  • Professional customer presence with ability to effectively discuss technical solutions at some level of detail.
  • Analytical and creative problem-solver to identify and sell to customer needs. Outstanding negotiation skills.
  • Strategic thinker with excellent judgment and decision making skills.
  • Adaptable team player with excellent communication (oral and written), interpersonal, and presentation skills.
  • Basic financial acumen to manage profitability expectation of products sold.
  • Highly results oriented sales and project management skills. Possesses the drive to meet multiple, fast-paced, project deadlines while maintaining strong performance.
  • Good documentation and organizational skills. Continuous improvement oriented.
  • Proficient MS, CRM and ERP skills. Solidworks experience ideal.
  • Able and readily willing to travel domestically and internationally.
