You will ensure quality products. Inspect parts and products for conformance to specifications, standards, and customer requirements.  Use various inspection tools including CMM machine, perform computer entries, and may assist in machining and other plant areas as needed.     

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Work from and interpret complex prints, product specifications and quality requirements to determine and measure dimensions and tolerances. 
  • Analyze and either approve or reject inspected parts or product according to specifications and inspection results. Properly mark items for next step.
  • Set up, use and perform preventative maintenance on CMM machine, and various gages and inspection tools including calipers, micrometers, dial bore gages to ensure parts are machined to accurate specifications.
  • Complete receiving, in-process, final parts, and final product inspections for conformance to specifications and customer requirements. Complete product run-outs. Perform visual inspections.
  • Interpret and perform geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T) evaluations.
  • Analyze and document defective parts or product. Communicate with supervisor, machinists, or purchasing.
  • Record all inspection results and transactions in the computer. Use email communication as appropriate.
  • Follow established procedures. Document and contribute to procedures, processes and quality improvements.
  • Assist with Machining, Inventory Control, Shipping & Receiving or other duties as needed.
  • Use forklifts, cranes or hand trucks.

What will make you successful?

  • High School graduate or equivalent plus 2 years inspection and gaging experience in a production machining environment. Tech school or quality training ideal.
  • Ability to read blueprints with very good math and analytical skills.
  • Experience using a CMM machine and other inspection tools and gauges.
  • Good communication and responsiveness in a fast-paced, multi-tasking position.
  • Self- starter who is accurately and efficiently able to work under minimal supervision.
  • Well organized with good attention to detail.
  • Must be able to lift up to 30 pounds, push, bend, twist, reach and stoop regularly.
  • Willingness to learn and work in other shop areas as needed.
